HERITAGE GOURMET MEAT CHICKS
After being approached by many people wanting a more traditional tasting chicken we set about producing the Heritage Gourmet. Commercial meat chicks are processed at only 7-8 weeks meaning that although very tender they have little flavour. In France they grow some chickens out to 100 days and these command higher prices as their flavour is vastly superior. It has taken quite a few years to get the breeding right but we are now very happy with our birds. They are ideally processed at 16 weeks. An age where they are still tender but have great traditional chicken flavour. We have been very excited by the response and quite a few small farmers, free rangers and organic farmers have been buying batches to rare and process with a view to sell at farmers markets etc.
